Wondering who we are? A little bit about each of our team members is available below.
Jillian was born in Hamilton, Ontario and moved to the sunny Okanagan in 2001 where she fully embraces the Okanagan lifestyle and enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, gardening, reading, beach days, and spending time with her partner Karlin and their dog Rhea.
After working at 3 different CPA accounting firms, Jillian opened Creekside Accounting Ltd. in 2016 where she strives daily to provide both high quality and friendly services. In the beginning Jillian struggled as a young entrepreneur. She had made the error that is fatal to so many businesses: assuming professional competency meant business success. Initially she did not have the skills needed to run a business and soon after opening HR, technology, and even her own bookkeeper issues were a daily challenge. She often doubted the choice she had made in starting the firm and considered closing its doors.
Needing a solution, Jillian turned to books, lectures, and other development resources and soon found the wealth of knowledge and experience she had been missing. As a daily learner Jillian strives for improvement constantly in her own life and here at Creekside Accounting.
‘I push myself and my team to be better every day. We strive to put our client’s needs first while providing great accounting, bookkeeping, and consulting services. We are constantly seeking to improve what we can offer to better our firm and improve the both the lives and businesses of our clients.’
Creekside is now a flourishing accounting firm that has grown to include many fantastic team members and has helped create financial success for not only the firm, but also their clients.
Renee was raised in a small town in the Kootenays and moved to the ‘big city’ of Kelowna after high school where opportunities awaited. She completed her degree in Human Kinetics at UBCO and then specialized in holistic nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
After several years of experience in the administrative role and running her own nutrition consulting business, Renee decided to challenge herself in a new profession. When she completed her administrative assistant certificate (with distinction) at Okanagan College, she joined the Creekside Accounting team as administrative support.
Renee has since moved from the administrative role to full-time bookkeeper at Creekside Accounting. On her time off she loves baking, outdoor activities including hiking with her dogs, exploring in the side-by-side, dirt biking, and other adventurous sports. If you’re lucky, you may even get to try some of her homemade baking!
Andy spent most of his life residing in a small town located in Germany. He successfully completed his apprenticeship as an Electrician in the Industrial Industry and worked in the field for a few years.
In 2016, he moved to Canada and went on a pursuit for new and exciting career opportunities. Andy situated himself in London, Ontario where he studied General Business and Human Resource Management at Fanshawe College.
He fell in love with the beautiful landscape of the Okanagan when vacationing in 2019, influencing his move to Kelowna one year later. Now Andy is able to enjoy the beautiful scenery every day! Andy enjoys hiking, running, camping, skiing, kayaking, and spending time with his loved ones. He is very excited to be a part of the Creekside Accounting team and we are very happy to have him.
Melissa was born and raised in the Philippines where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Engineering.
Before moving to Canada, she spent almost 12 years working in the banking industry. She built her career from the ground up starting in a teller position and being promoted to a service manager role. Working in banking opened the door for her to expand her learning and she became curious about accounting. In 2019 she enrolled in a Business Administration Diploma majoring in accounting at Okanagan College. She loved the subject and her marks reflected this. She was recognized as a consistent top student for the two years of the diploma program.
During her free Melissa enjoys activities with her loved ones which can include eating awesome Asian cuisine, watching Netflix, and spending time outdoors biking and hiking.
If there's something she's learned in life it's to have the courage to reach high and accept additional responsibility. Everything that is worth it in life takes effort and hard work.
Stayed tuned for more!
Rhea is a golden retriever / cocker spaniel who was born and raised in Kelowna. Her favourite activities include eating, swimming, cross-country skiing, more eating, going on hikes, sleeping, and finally more eating.
Rhea had a rough start to her greeting career and would often bark at client's arriving at Creekside Accounting. Over time she realized that many more treats could be obtained by utilizing her puppy eyes. With her new skills in paw, Rhea soon became a star performer here at the firm.
Rhea now loves to say hello to clients walking in the door and may inquire in their coat pockets or handbag if any treats are available. The best part of Rhea's job is eating treats and keeping team members company during their lunch breaks... just encase they feel like sharing.
Although she hasn't mastered the dog hair on clothes issue common with doggy greeters, she's sure to make you feel welcome if you catch her on a working day while stopping by the firm.
